A friend is someone we turn to
when our spirits need a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure
for our friendship is a gift.
A friend is someone who fills our lives
with beauty, joy, and grace.
And makes the whole world we live in
a better and happier place.
Being an Aquarian by birth and having my friends as my best assets ever, I have been one who has always tried to trace my friends right from my childhood. I have had the fortune of being re-connected and establishing contact with friends – these could just be neighbors from communities I grew up or classmates from primary – middle- secondary-college-boy scouts etc.,
Last winter, I had the unique joy of meeting yet another dear friend of mine from school in Minneapolis. Having been one of my very special friends from school thru college, I had last spoken possibly in 1987 or so. When you reconnect and exchange notes, you take a small stroll down the memory lane and wonder despite all the change that life is all about, how come there are tucked these precious memories and feelings for the dear and loved friends. How come when you meet and re-connect, one is able to relate as if there has not been any void in all these years?
“Koi lauta de mere beete hue din….”(Somebody try and get be back )my past years….. is more than just a song for me….also the famous Jagjit and Chitra Singh song – Woh kagaz ki kashti…woh baarish ka paani( Those days of paper boats in the rain)…..have lyrics apt enough to make anyone with the slightest fondness of their childhood and friendship go into a dreamland and get a smile on their face.
I am opening a new category to add links and information about some of them. As I locate them, I will try and recall my most cherished moments with them and let them either capture theirs or simply provide a link to their present. All this might just well get some of us re-connected and build a strong network of friends – a friendship that once was formed with no agendas or expectations but purely for being “just good friends”!
Which of my friends has been associated with me the longest? Since when?Which of my friends has potentially come closest to being what we once predicted based on childhood behavior?
These are a few interesting facts that will be discovered. I am sure my twin will help establish a great deal in this adventure.
Friendship is like the breeze,
You can’t hold it,
Or know when it’s coming,
But you can always feel it,
And you’ll always know it’s there,
It may come and then go,
But you can know it’ll always be back.
